Team Tugulawa
Our team, affectionately known as Team Tugulawa, strive to provide a cohesive, nurturing, and collaborative space where children, their families and our communities can flourish. Our team is committed to the core value of deep reflection and continuous learning; to be the best they can be. Our team are highly qualified and experienced, with most educators holding a Diploma in Children’s Services or Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood). Each of our educators are fully qualified for the position they hold.
At Tugulawa, we value our team and recognise that they play an essential role in our ability to provide the best possible education and care experience. Some of our most commonly asked questions from prospective families are about our team – including our staff tenure, qualifications and the ways that we take care of our people.
Our average tenure across our permanent team is over 9 years, with over 70% of our team being with us for 5 years or more. We have extensive, embedded structures in place to support our team, including a wellness program, access to an Employee Assistance Program, higher than award wages, and many smaller initiatives, such as a birthday cake roster run by our families and special treats at important times throughout the year (such as on Educators Day). All of these initiatives combine to create a team who are feel valued both at Tugulawa and in their chosen profession.
Leadership at Tugulawa
In line with everything about Tugulawa, leadership is an essential partnership. We have two very experienced and highly qualified Co-Directors Karen (B Teach Early Childhood and Grad Dip Ed Mgt) and Lauren (Assoc Deg Ed Studies and Adv Dip Community Mgt). Karen and Lauren lead the team and look after the comings and goings of our busy centre every day. They work collaboratively with the Tugulawa Management Committee, using the vision and philosophy to drive the bigger picture and ensuring Tugulawa will continue to move onwards and upwards and remain an icon of Bulimba.
Lauren and Karen have a rich combination of skills and diverse experience, within many different aspects of the early childhood profession and outside of it. They are both working Mum’s, well versed in the juggle that this entails, which in turn brings a deep understanding of the lives of the families that make Tugulawa their home away from home.
Tugulawa also employees a non-contact Educational Leader who holds a deep understanding of early childhood education and plays an influential role in inspiring, motivating, affirming, and extending the practice and pedagogy of educators.
